Heikapper (heath cutter)

The statue of the Heikapper is a tribute to the many poor Heppen heikappers who worked the heathland in past centuries out of dire necessity. The blue stone sculpture was modeled by Luc Vanhoof after 82-year-old Sus Caelen, who practiced this occupation in his youth.

The statue stands at the roundabout of Heppen in front of the old town hall.
